This is an excellent article written by Gerald Warner in the The Telegraph on January 20, 2009:

A quote that seems to particularly hit home for me:

"It is questionable whether the present political system can survive the coming crisis. Whatever the solution, teenage swooning sentimentality over a celebrity cult has no part in it. The most powerful nation on earth is confronting its worst economic crisis under the leadership of its most extremely liberal politician, who has virtually no experience of federal politics. That is not an opportunity but a catastrophe."

"Teenage swooning sentimentality" -- how very well put. This perfectly describes the Obama-mania that has, for some unknown reason, gripped many in this country over the past 6 months or so. Unfortunately reality is now setting in and these people are having to admit to themselves that this messiah, their harbinger of hope is, in actuality, the emperor without clothes. Their emperor is coming with a $1 trillion price tag. And he hasn't even been in office a month...
