I probably won't be posting much until Mr. Obama actually takes office. Merry Christmas to anyone who is actually reading this...

Preach it Chuck!
I ran across this from Chuck Norris this evening and had to share. He expresses a lot of great ideas here and everyone (liberal, conservative, black, white, etc.) should read it -- it's not very long and won't take but a few minutes of your day...

The Dems in Congress want the government to bail out the auto industry now. The plan would call for $25 billion in loans to the big 3 auto makers in exchange for the government holding an ownership stake in the companies. Government owning private business -- what does that sound like? What's next? What companies will the government deem worthy of bailout money? If it's OK to bail out GM what about the mom and pop store on the corner? Of course not but where is the line? Who decides which companies get taxpayer money to rescue them and which ones don't?
Stock report: down 411.30 to close at 8282.66. This is getting really bad folks. The market has lost roughly 1,350 points in the past WEEK.

Apparently Iran loves Obama. A weekly Tehran paper ran a cover story today with his picture on the front page and the headline "Why doesn't Iran have an Obama?" Scary stuff folks...
People are buying guns at record rates because they think Obama is likely to enact new laws restricting or even banning the purchase of guns altogether.

Looks like Obama is at least considering a few republicans for cabinet positions. This could be a good sign -- let's see how it plays out. Colin Powell for Education Secretary seems a bit odd to me. I'm not sure what to think about Powell. Is he a sellout? Why did he suddenly become an Obama supporter in the 11th hour before the election? Is it purely because of race?
Two terror groups are urging Obama to pull troops out of the middle east -- big surprise there. It will be very interesting to see how he handles that situation. I'll not pass judgment until this develops more fully.
Obama held his first press conference today. I didn't watch it.
The national unemployment rate is at 6.5%, a 14-year high.
Todays stock market report -- up 248.02 to close at 8943.81

Rahm Emanuel, former Clinton aide, will be Obama's chief of staff.
Some nations are cheering the election of Obama, saying it's the first step to uniting the world. In my opinion this is being said because Obama will move the US further toward liberalism, like much of the rest of the world. This is not a good thing. Sure, the world will be more "united" if we are in as bad shape as the rest of the world. That way everyone else doesn't have to be envious of the USA any more.
Today's stock market report -- down 443.48 to close at 8695.79. The last two days represent the biggest two day loss in history.

The Beginning
Let me start out by telling you a few things. I am a conservative. I always have been. I vote Republican 99% of the time. I don't like Barack Obama. I voted for John McCain. I think Obama is a socialist. I think he is going to take money out of my pocket and put it in the pockets of others. Knowing my political leanings, if you aren't interested in my ideas please don't read any further.
If you are still here, good -- let's proceed.
Today is November 5, 2008. Obama won the presidency yesterday. His term will start in about 2 1/2 months. I intend to keep this blog going for the length of his presidency, however long that may be -- 4 years or 8. You know what they say about good intentions though. Anyway, I intend to use this space to keep a running tally if you will of how he is doing. How are his policies affecting the country? Is he living up to his campaign promises? Am I right about his ultra-liberal tendencies? This should be fun.
As for what happened today, the stock market lost 486.01 points to close at 9139.27. Not a good start for the man who is supposed to be the one to fix everything. I thought the world economies as well as our own "leading indicator" (the stock market,) were supposed to rejoice at the election of this savior of the USA?
How difficult will it be for him to live up to the promises that he made in order to get elected? Fox News has their take on that question here.
